
The Contemporary Conductor
In 2000, Iryna Demianyshyna graduated from the Kiev Secondary Special Music School named after M.V. Lysenko (now Kiev State Music Lyceum ), in 2005 she graduated with distinction from the National Academy of Music of Ukraine P.I. Tchaikovsky (now NHAU), the Faculty of Choir Conducting in Professor Lev Venedikt’s classroom, and received a university degree in “Musical Art” and a qualification as a conductor of the choir, a teacher of choral disciplines. In 2009 she completed an assistantship at the NHAU in the class of Professor Lev Venediktov. From 2005 until the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian occupation forces (2022), she worked as a singing teacher, piano player and conductor of a children’s choir at an art school. The choir has repeatedly become a laureate of international and all-Ukrainian competitions (‘Musical Colors’, ‘Art Premium’, etc.).
Since 2007, she has been the conductor of the Kiev National Linguistic University student corps. Already during her student years, she began conducting professional churches, with which she repeatedly became laureates of competitions. In March 2022, she arrived in Košice with her mother and son. In the same year she began to work as an assistant choirmaster in the National Theatre Košice, where she still works today. As a choirmaster, she performed the following operas with the theatre choir: K. Szymanowski ‘King Roger’, W. A. Mozart ‘The Magic Flute’, G. Donizetti ‘Anna Bolena’, R. Wagner ‘Tannhäuser’, G. Verdi ‘Macbeth’, B. Smetana ‘Dalibor’, E. Kálmán ‘Cardash Princess’, E. Suchoň ‘Krútňava’, E. Kálmán ‘Circus Princess’, S. Banevič ‘Snow Queen’ .
Since 1 January 2026 she has been the conductor of the Academic Choir COLLEGIUM TECHNICUM.
